Mel Ferrer’s Floral Nightmare - stencil on advertising poster In 300 year old frame
This product is currently sold out.
I have been going on a number of PURE EVIL PICKERS trips across the USA visiting various cities and now I'm starting to pick a few choice UK pieces, and I was struck by this iconic torn ad, harvested from the streets of London.
Each piece is an unique work of art..
Stencil spray paint on advertising ‘sources’ from the walls of Shoreditch with freehand PURE tags on 84 x 105 cm multilayered Advertising poster from Old Street London. Comes framed in a 300 year old frame recycled from the Maritime Museum in London.
108 x 132cm in frame
Condition : Because of the age of the frame, pieces are constantly crumbling off it but I like that. If you were 300 years old then pieces of you would be crumbling off too.
Detournement can be defined as a variation on previous work, in which the newly created work has a meaning that is antagonistic or antithetical to the original. The original media work that is détourned must be somewhat familiar to the target audience, so that it can appreciate the opposition of the new message. The artist or commentator making the variation can reuse only some of the characteristic elements of the originating work.
